Like hundreds of people across St. Louis Park and thousands throughout the Twin Cities, Aaron Howe doesn't necessarily play softball for a trophy at the end of the season.
"This is having fun with people from work, without the work," said Howe, who works at and plays for the Supervalu team in the Men's D - Orange league on Monday nights at Aquila Park.
For others, the appeal is the friendly competition found in the more relaxed softball leagues.

In 10-year softball veteran Mark McGuire's case, softball leagues provide a fun escape from the normal daily routine.
"After you turn 30 there isn't (much) for us to do," McGuire said. "I work, I have kids. This is two hours a week for myself."
