Both and were represented at the state Nordic ski meet, held at Giants Ridge in Biwabik on Thursday afternoon, with Orioles competitiors taking part in both the boys and girls races to close out the 2010-11 season. BSM's Garrett Shaffer took the top position of the three local skiers on the day, as the Red Knights senior finished up his high school career with a 13th-place finish in the boys pursuit standings with a total time of 30 minutes, 43.9 seconds — 14:27 in the freestyle and 16:16.9 in the classical. The Orioles' Michael Cork took 90th in the pursuit, as the junior accumulated a complete time of 33:41.8. St. Louis Park junior Katelyn Palmatier placed 29th in the girls pursuit after posting a 35:09.2 total time.
