SLIDESHOW: Red Knights Topple Totino

Benilde-St. Margaret's knocked off the Eagles, 6-1, and is readying for a run in the section playoffs.

The Benilde-St. Margaret's boys hockey team has two speeds — fast and faster.

When pitted against a solid opponent, BSM simply turns its intensity up to another level. This happened Thursday night with the Totino-Grace Eagles visiting the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

In what was a closely contested game through two periods, filled with hard skating and crisp passing by both teams, the Red Knights entered the third ahead 2-1. Benilde-St. Margaret's then went on a 4-0 scoring rampage en route to defeating the Eagles, who came in ranked fourth in Class A, by a final score of 6-1.

Benilde-St. Margaret's, currently ranked fifth among larger Class 2A schools, is the only team in the North Suburban Conference to have knocked off the Eagles this year, having now done so twice by a combined score of 15-3. The Red Knights have one more regular season game — a Saturday non-conference match-up with Stillwater — before the Section 6AA playoffs begin next week.
