SLP Resident Finishes Second in Normandale Creative Writing Contest

Zachary Newell, of St. Louis Park, placed second in the fiction category of the Normandale Community College English Department’s Patsy Lea Core Memorial Awards in Creative Writing.

Newell will be honored with five other finalists at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, during the Patsy Lea Core Awards event.

Novelist Nick Healy and poet Matt Rasmussen selected the winner from blind submissions. Both judges and all the winners will read from their work at the awards ceremony.
