Sports Round-up: Orioles Soccer Squads Fall in Orono Tournament
St. Louis Park boys and girls teams were upended on Tuesday.

It was early-season tournament time for three of the four local varsity soccer squads, as both teams, as well as the girls club, were either beginning or ending their tourney brackets on a dreary Tuesday.
Orioles Boys Soccer Lose By 1
The Park boys soccer team fell to 1-1 on the season with a 3-2 loss to the hosts in the opening game of the Orono Tournament.

Orioles Girls Soccer Blanked on the Road
A 2-0 loss to their hosts—ranked second in Class A—in the Orono Tournament semifinals also dropped the Park girls soccer team to 1-1 on the young season.
The game was 0-0 at halftime, but Orono's Sophie Babo and Nikki Smith each scored in the second half.
Like the boys, the Orioles girls squad also plays Holy Family Catholic in the third-place match-up on Wednesday.
Red Knights Girls Soccer Bests Ranked Opponent
The BSM girls soccer team defeated the ninth-ranked team in Class A, Minnehaha Academy, by a 2-0 score to place third in its Showcase Tournament.
It was the second victory in three tries for the Red Knights, who defeated Breck 8-0 on Saturday in a non-conference, non-tournament contest after opening the season with a scoreless tie versus Holy Angels in the Showcase opener last Thursday.
While the Stars bested BSM in a penalty shootout in that first game, the result officially goes in the record books as a tie.
The Red Knights—ranked No. 1 in Class A—host Robbinsdale Cooper at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Red Knights Boys Soccer Ties Tough Foe
Facing its biggest test of the early going, the BSM boys soccer team also remained unbeaten this year by means of a 1-1 tie at Eden Prairie (ranked fourth in Class AA) to improve to 2-0-1.
Individual statistics were not available. The Red Knights—ranked third in Class A— host Cooper at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Red Knights Volleyball Loses Opener
The BSM volleyball team opened its season with a three-game loss (22-25, 17-25, 16-25) at Robbinsdale Armstrong.

Orioles Girls Tennis Fall to Hopkins
The Park girls tennis team was defeated, 6-1, by visiting Hopkins in a .
Orioles' No. 1 singles player Madeline Swanson defeated the Royals' Ida Ramic for her team's lone victory.
Cooper comes calling for a scheduled match on Wednesday, then the Orioles open September at Irondale on Thursday—both matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Red Knights Girls Tennis Wins Again
The BSM girls tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 5-2 defeat of St. Francis.
