St. Louis Park Swimmers Take 3rd at True Team
Hannah Hein and Kathryn Ostrom nabbed first place finishes individually.

The girls swimming and diving team took third place on Saturday at the Section 2A True Team meet in Spring Lake Park.
The Orioles, competing in their third meet of the week and coming off an emotional dual win over for the North Suburban Conference title, finished with 702 points on the day. Breck won the meet with 1,034 points, and The Blake School came in second.
Depth is key to winning a True Team meet, and St. Louis Park coach Jake Schwietering said with 21 swimmers on the roster, it is tough to compete in the depth-based meets. Still, the Orioles held their own with four second-place finishes and two first-place finishes on the day.

“Today the goal was to come in here and try to get some good swims in before (the Minnesota State High School League) sections,” he said. “I think we saw some pretty consistent swims—maybe not our best swims, but I like that they’re being consistent.”
Schwietering said True Team’s competition can help the squad prepare for the MSHSL meet in November.

“I’m very proud of the girls,” Schwietering said. “We’ve had a great season so far, and things have really gone well for us. Now we’re focused entirely on sections and trying to get as many people as we can to state.”
