Tenting in the Park

Before winter arrives, tents big and small make an appearance in St. Louis Park

Editor's Note: "Snapshot: St. Louis Park" is an old feature getting reinvented. It will now run weekly, on Wednesdays, and will showcase the photography of St. Louis Park resident . If you know of something that should be captured by photograph, please email Debra directly at debra@goldfishcommunications.com.

This was the week for tents in the Park, from big to medium to small—with something in it for all.

The tent at graces the St. Louis Park skyline with its scope and slope. Billed as the world's largest touring tent, it holds 39 performers, 43 horses and, starting tonight, an audience of thousands.

The Iverson family, led by Eleanor, 3, visited The 44th Annual Tent Sale at for some winter jackets and boots. (Pink, ya think?)

And on Wooddale Avenue, a lowly pup tent remains left behind after the weekend garage sale. Owner Courtney Sponsel says no one in the family remembers where the tent came from, or ever using it. They found it in a pile in the basement, and decided it was time to send it packing to a good home. It's not quite Cavalia-esque, but then not everyone needs a 50 ton tent.
