St. Michael Patch: What does your business offer?
Sydney Milam: I am the sole owner of my own jewelry business. I make handcrafted and handmade eclectic jewelry that is nature inspired. I use sterling silver, copper, brass, bronze, gold and quality gemstones. I also have a line of industrial/steampunk like jewelry.

Patch: Where can people find your jewelry?
Milam: I sell online and at arts and crafts shows. I also sell at health and wellness and women’s expos and some metaphysical events.

Patch: When and how did your business launch?
Milam: I started out making lanyards for people at work and area teachers; they call me the “Lanyard Lady.” I decided that if I can do that I might as well try my hand at jewelry, so I did. I made my own website and started going to shows, which went okay but I knew I could do better. I expanded into silver smithing techniques after deciding to take a class in Minneapolis and now I have my own site, I sell on Etsy, Amazon and at shows all over the Midwest.
Patch: Are most of your customers local?
Milam: I actually ship my products all over the world, with most of my out of country sales being in Australia, United Kingdom and Canada.
Patch: What's a fact about yourself that most people don't know?
Milam: I am a closet astronomy geek; I love the stars and the night sky.
Patch: What do you do in your free time?
Milam: I run my small business in my free time. During the day, I’m a registered nurse in the Emergency Room at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids and I have a second on-call job as a sexual assault nurse examiner.
When I’m not working, I enjoy time with my kids. I spend a lot of time at the dog park with my dogs and when I can make the time, I love taking pictures of nature, landscapes and sunsets at different local locations. I also enjoy Reiki.
