Debra Larson: My Husband Said Tim Huber Wouldn't Leave Property

The widow of Tim Larson of Albertville was the first witness in the murder trial of Tim Huber, according to news reports.

Testimony in the trial of Tim Huber, charged in the alleged 2011 murder of Tim Larson of Albertville, began Thursday with Larson's widow Debra on the witness stand.

In opening statements at the Timothy Huber murder trial in Willmar this (Thursday) morning, defense attorney Carter Greiner portrayed the defendant as a feeble-minded, physically abused son who followed the orders of his father, Delbert Huber, out of concern for his own safety. ...

Deborah Larson told the 8-man, 6-woman jury about how she and her husband were at one time friendly with the Hubers, but things went downhill when Tim Huber accused Tim Larson of allowing other people to hunt on the Huber property near Paynesville.

The West Central Tribune detailed those troubles:

Under questioning by Kandiyohi County Attorney Jenna Fischer, Larson described the last time she talked with her husband, the evening before he was shot and killed in October 2011. The 11-minute call included that Tim Huber was on Larson’s father’s property fixing something and that Tim Larson had asked Huber to leave several times but that Huber would not leave the rural Belgrade property. ...

Larson also testified that her husband was also frustrated with his father, Norman Larson, because Norman had allowed cows to graze on corn specifically planted to attract deer for hunting. The corn was planted on Tim Larson’s land, a 40-acre parcel that Norman Larson had previously owned just southeast of Norman’s homestead.
