St. Michael-Albertville Schools to have 2-hour Delayed Start Monday

Morning kindergarten has been cancelled.

 

St. Michael-Albertville Schools will start two hours late Monday, Dec. 10, due to heavy snowfall and hazardous road conditions during the weekend blizzard that dumped more than 10 inches of snow on the metro.

Morning kindergarten has been cancelled for Monday. STMA There also will be no morning preschool or Early Childhood Family Education classes. Preschool classes beginning at noon will take place.

Wayne Hoistad, director of technology and transporation for the STMA school district made the announcement Sunday night and sent emails to parents around 8:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service based in Chanhassen reports that more snow is expected tonight and winds will pick up tomorrow in the St. Michael- Albertville area:

Areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow before midnight, then a slight chance of snow between midnight and 3am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 0. Wind chill values between -2 and -7. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 16 to 21 mph decreasing to 9 to 14 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 9. Wind chill values between -3 and -13. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming south southwest in the afternoon.
