Stormy Cycle Takes Areas Moto-sports Enthusiasts by “Storm”

The newest location, owned by Brad Pachnik and Scott Storm, has been open for three months and are already expanding their retail area and hope to at some point include rentals.

The local community has warmly received a new motorcycle service and repair shop during its first few months in town, and owners say more good stuff is in the works. Scott Storm opened his store in Blaine in 2001, doing business as an award-winning custom chopper builder, but the business has changed and evolved in the last 11 years to be mostly service and repair on everything from motorcycles and dirt bikes to all-terrain vehicles and personal watercraft.

Looking for a place to expand and spread their wings, Storms and his co-owner, Brad Pachnik, purchased their new Albertville space in January, located right along the freeway, off Mackenzie Ave., just past in Albertville. The building originally housed but has also been home to a boat repair business, antiques and a painting company before Stormy Cycle purchased the building in January. Pachnik said it took until the middle of April to clean, renovate and ready the space for their business.

The pair chose Albertville for their new location based on market research, finding that this area is lacking in motorcycle and power sports service and repair, and it appears they hit their mark.

“It has been busier than we ever could have hoped for,” Pachnik said. “If it’s got a motor and it moves you, we can work on it.”

One of the shop’s most unique features, owners say, is their new dynamometer. The machine is a device for testing the performance of a
motorcycle or ATV and is the only one in the area, they said.

“It’s one of the premier features of this store,” said operations manager Mark Schimke.

The new location has been up and running for less than three months doing service and repair work, but already Storm and Pachnik have big
plans they are working to implement to expand their business. The retail area will be filled with parts, apparel and accessories in the next week, and future plans call for new and used motorcycle and ATV sales, along with trailers, dirt bikes and possibly snowmobiles. They also have a goal of expanding to include motorcycle rentals and maybe even ATV or dirt bike rentals.
