Weekend Planner: Breaking Free From the Humble Abode

St. Michael-Albertville's weekend entertainment guide to music, snow and cures.

 It’s Thursday, cabin fever has reached its peak and you just want to shout from the top of a mountain.

But since this area is slightly altitudinal-ly challenged, save your yodeling days for the Alps...St. Michael Patch has found a few other options for you to try out this weekend.

 ROAD KILL BAND

Where/When: Buffalo American Legion (304 10th Ave. S) on Friday, Feb. 11 from 8 p.m. to midnight

Why Go: Support a local band and get your foot tapping to some great music from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s!

Where/When: Pubhouse 19 (formerly Major's, off LaBeaux Avenue in Albertville) Friday, Feb. 11 from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Why Go: You can’t pass up that ole country sound that’s spreading like wildfire across the state.

Price: Free

 ST. MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE BOYS HOCKEY

Where/When: Face-off is at the St. Michael-Albertville Arena on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: The end of hockey season is in near sight. Cheer on the Knights as they take on Cambridge-Isanti.

 SNOW SCULPTURE CONTEST

Where/When: Monticello Community Center on Saturday, Feb.12 from noon to 2 p.m.

Why Go: Take winter into your own hands on the front lawn of the community center.

Price: Free, but register at guest services desk.

 

LAKE HOME & CABIN SHOW

Where/When: Minneapolis Convention Center on Friday, Feb. 11 from 2-8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: It may be a bit out of town, but break that cabin fever by getting a jump start on rekindling the summer love affair Minnesotans undeniably have with cabins and lake homes.

Price: $10 Adults, $4 Youth 5-15 years, Children under 5 are free, and there’s a $2 off admission coupon on the website.
