Wright County Adds Disclaimer To Beacon Parcel Summary Page To Reduce Confusion

Many Wright County residents use the Beacon interactive GIS (Geographic Information System) to view aerial photos of land parcels and specific information on those properties, such as the parcel ID, the section/township/range of the parcel, deeded acres and the school district where the property is located. However, those going to the Beacon property report page that lists these items will see a new disclaimer regarding the heading “Class.”

Many are misinterpreting the term “Class” as the zoning classification of the parcel in question. The “Class” line on the Beacon report actually refers to the tax classification of a parcel, not the zoning classification. More information regarding this line of information can be obtained from the Wright County Assessor’s Office.

Wright County would like residents to be aware of this new disclaimer statement and why it has been placed there, so as to reduce any confusion regarding the meaning of “Class” on the property report page. The disclaimer is printed in red at the bottom of the summary section of the report page stating, “Note: Assessor’s Classification Used for Property Tax Purposes.”
