• DNR holds public meeting on Tamarack mine proposal in Aitkin County (northernnewsnow.com) — A massive Tamarack nickel and copper mine proposal near McGregor in Aitkin County is moving forward, with the DNR taking public input on its environmental review. Company leaders tout jobs and national security benefits, while Mille Lacs Band representatives warn the underground Tamarack project could threaten water, ecosystems, and traditional lifeways. Construction could begin as early as 2029.
