Examining How Media Misleads, Manipulates, and Divides

The Braver Angels West Suburban Alliance welcomes the public to “Examining How Media Misleads, Manipulates, And Divides,” 6 – 8 p.m., Monday, September 29, at the Brookdale Library, 6125 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn Center.

In this practical, hands-on workshop, participants will learn the tactics of modern media such as spin, ad hominem attacks, slant, and flawed logic, among other methods. At the end of the program, participants will have learned together how not to be misled, manipulated, or divided by all mass media forms.

Braver Angels is a national organization with state and local affiliates with the mission of bringing Americans together to bridge the political partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic.

Presenter and Braver Angels member Robert Thames will use resources from Allsides, a public benefit corporation that states at its website, “Journalism today strays from objective fact, resulting in biased news and endless examples of media bias.”
