It's Official: Costco is Coming to Woodbury

The store is expected to open fall 2017.

On Wednesday, The Woodbury City Council passed the national warehouse retailer’s proposal.

According to the Woodbury Bulletin, Costco will build a 163,500 square foot store near the intersection of Tamarack Road and Weir Drive.

The store is expected to open fall 2017.

Costco's plans were originally announced in December, but were delayed when a local watershed district determined that Costco would have a negative impact on a nearby wetland.

The Ramsey-Washington Watershed District recommended that Costco reduce the plans for the store's size, building a parking ramp, and eliminating the proposed gas station.

Costco said those changes would not work, and instead revised its application to move the store from the east side of the site to the west side to reduce wetland impact.

On Wednesday, the City Council passed the national warehouse retailer’s revised proposal.
