Woodbury Sam's Club Cashier Helped Forgery Scheme: Police

Police say a Saint Paul woman received help from a cashier at Sam's Club in Woodbury in a check forgery scheme.

WOODBURY, MN β€” A Saint Paul woman has been charged with aiding and abetting theft-by swindle and check forgery at the Sam’s Club in Woodbury. Both are felony-level charges. Police said she received help from a Sam's Club employee.

During the course of its investigation, law enforcement officials say they learned of a check forgery scheme allegedly perpetrated by Desiree Christine Nelson, 27, and a Sam's Club cashier. According to the criminal complaint, Nelson repeatedly presented forged checks for payment at the Sam's Club Woodbury, as well as other family members and acquaintances.

Police say these forged checks were all knowingly accepted for payment by the same Sam's Club cashier, who used an override code to ensure that the forged checks were accepted by Sam's Club for payment for store merchandise.

Nelson is scheduled to make her first court appearance this week.
