Inspired by generosity: MSU-Meridian nursing students create yearly scholarship (meridianstar.com) — Two recent graduates of Mississippi State University-Meridian's nursing program have created a $1,000 annual scholarship to support future MSU-Meridian nursing students. Drawing on generosity they received, including awards that helped a Meridian ICU nurse avoid debt, they hope to ease financial burdens so others can focus on their studies and careers in patient care.

Lauderdale County unveils marker honoring first Black legislators (meridianstar.com) — Lauderdale County has installed a new historical marker at the former courthouse honoring some of Mississippi's first Black legislators, including Meridian leader James Aaron Moore. The marker highlights Moore's service as a Meridian city councilman, his role in Reconstruction-era politics, and the violent backlash that forced him to flee the city, adding important local Black history to the public landscape.
