The May 28 effort, part of Operation Liberty Shield, also connected victims with services and reflects a broader statewide push to train officers and coordinate crackdowns on trafficking networks.

BOMA approves appraisals of airport (vicksburgnews.com) — Vicksburg’s leaders just approved two appraisals needed to move forward with selling the 264-acre city airport property on U.S. 61, including its runway and eight buildings. With values set between about $2.2 and $2.38 million, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will now pay for an audit so the sale complies with FAA rules.

3. Vicksburg expands crime-fighting toolkit with Flock cameras (vicksburgpost.com) — Vicksburg Police are rolling out 10 new Flock license plate reader cameras across the city, funded entirely with leftover grant money so taxpayers won’t see added costs. Chief Larry Burns says the cameras will only support criminal investigations, helping officers quickly locate wanted vehicles and respond faster to serious incidents, not issue speeding or traffic tickets.

4. Entergy says data centers will deliver more than $2 billion in savings to Mississippi customers (tippahnews.com) — Amazon plans to build a data center in Vicksburg as part of a broader Entergy Mississippi partnership that the utility says will save customers over $2 billion in the next 20 years. Entergy says these data centers will strengthen the grid, fund hundreds of millions in reliability upgrades, and bring thousands of jobs and major tax revenue across its 45-county service area.

5. Plaque honors legacy of Temple High Coaches McClelland and Dent (vicksburgnews.com) — Community members gathered at Vicksburg Junior High School to unveil a plaque honoring legendary Rosa A. Temple High basketball coaches Levern “Fish” McClelland and Belton Dent Sr. The tribute recalls their dominant 1960s Buccaneers teams, an undefeated 29-0 season, and the life lessons they passed on to Vicksburg students whose success reached colleges nationwide.
