Organic Food Workshops at Annual Conference at St. Louis Union Station Marriott

The Missouri Organic Association meets February 2-4 at the Union Station Mariott for its annual conference, with a schedule of educational events open to the public.

Keynote speakers include Jordan Rubin, respected natural health expert, author of more than 20 books and founder of Garden of Life, who will speak on taking organics to the next level and Jeff Moyer, Rodale Institute Farm Director, who will teach a full-day workshop on soil fertility, including issues such as carbon sequestration and no-till farming.

Workshops include Mark Bittman’s documentary film What’s Organic About Organic? and nutritional and health issues of nonorganic foods; alternative gardening methods; bio-dynamic gardening, companion planting and using beneficial insects; soil fertility—composting and raised bed gardening; vegetable gardening—shitake mushrooms, corn, bee keeping and organic sprouts; and poultry production—commercial and backyard chickens.
