This summer, The Open Space Council for the St. Louis Region is once again organizing a river cleanup event. This nonprofit land and water conservation organization is gearing up for the 44th Annual Operation Clean Stream, and we need your help! We will once again organize thousands of volunteers to restore the Meramec River Watershed, and this yearly event remains one of the largest and longest ongoing of its kind in America. Last year, nearly 2,000 area volunteers offered their time and labor in an ongoing effort to rid over 500 miles of the Meramec River and its four tributaries of trash and debris.
The 44th annual event is scheduled for Sat., Aug. 27. The majority of volunteers will gather at Greentree Park in Kirkwood but there are also 3 sites in which volunteers can participate in Arnold. Volunteers will gather to clean the Meramec River and surrounding areas of litter with provided supplies. There is also no age minimum as long as youth participants are supervised. Expect to volunteer until about 4 P.M.
Interested in getting involved? Simply give us a call at 636-451-6090 or email Danielle at DJZemmel@gmail.com and let us know whether you'd like to volunteer in Kirkwood or Arnold. For more information: http://www.openspacestl.org/programs/operation-clean-stream.
Hope to see YOU on Aug. 27th to help keep our rivers clean! Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
