The Lady Pirates softball team wrapped up a 13-13 season after a tight district loss, and Ash Grove boys golf standout Easton Rust advanced to the Class 2 state tournament after shooting an 80 at districts.

3. Ash Grove, Mo., man seriously injured after crash near Rogersville (ky3.com) — An 18-year-old Ash Grove man was seriously hurt Friday afternoon when his speeding truck collided with an SUV and overturned several times on U.S. 60 near Rogersville. He was ejected, not wearing a seatbelt, and taken to Cox South, while the Seymour driver in the SUV was uninjured.

4. Senate clears heavily amended public safety bill (bransontrilakesnews.com) — Ash Grove residents may want to watch a sweeping public-safety bill that just cleared the Missouri Senate, since their senator Mike Moon is warning courts could strike it down over constitutional issues. The measure began as a drone-regulation bill but now bundles dozens of amendments, from tougher DWI consequences to school safety cameras and domestic-violence tracking. It now heads back to the House for final approval.

A fire, a filibuster and a compromise: Lawmakers experience busy penultimate day in JC (newstribune.com) — Ash Grove’s state senator, Mike Moon, staged a lengthy filibuster Thursday in Jefferson City as the Missouri Senate rushed to finish work before session’s end. His protest over abortion policy briefly slowed action, but lawmakers still advanced a major drunk-driving bill toughening penalties and requiring ignition-lock devices. A small office microwave fire added unexpected drama to the hectic day.
