• Crowder Quill magazine published, winners announced (blogspot.com) — An Aurora High School student, Raegen Phelps, earned a gold award in fiction for “Ambition's End” in Crowder College’s long-running Crowder Quill literary and art contest. The newly published 45th-anniversary edition showcases 130 winning entries from across southwest Missouri and nearby communities, and next year’s contest is already open with updated categories that emphasize writing and digital art.
   

• Disli Vasquez Elias (lawrencecountyrecord.com) — Aurora and Marionville residents are mourning 17-year-old Disli Vasquez Elias, a recent Marionville High School graduate and class president who hoped to join the U.S. Air Force. Visitation is Friday in the Marionville High School gym, with funeral services this morning, Saturday, May 16, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora and burial in Marionville.
