• Coroner's office identifies worker killed at U.S. Steel in Granite City (labortribune.com) — A 62-year-old Bridgeton resident, Mitcheal N. Nelson, has been identified as the worker fatally electrocuted while trying to shut off a malfunctioning transformer at the U.S. Steel mill in Granite City early Saturday. Local and company investigators are still reviewing what went wrong during the storm, and funeral arrangements are being handled through a Hannibal, Missouri, funeral home.
