Exposition: A Preview of the Second Annual 'Cape Folk Fest' (krcu.org) — Cape Girardeau residents are invited to the free Second Annual Cape Folk Fest on Saturday, June 6, from 4 to 11 p.m. at The Forge on Morgan Oak Street. Expect local history talks, folk art, dulcimer music, hands-on activities like tie-dye, and performances by regional bands, all backed by Southeast Missouri State University and partners.

Cape Girardeau man arrested, charged with statutory rape (wpsdlocal6.com) — A 43-year-old Cape Girardeau man has been arrested and charged with second-degree statutory rape after an incident involving a 16-year-old reported to police. Authorities say the encounter began near the downtown river wall and continued at the suspect’s home, and he is now being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

Cape Girardeau police time capsule to be opened after more than 50 years - KBSI FOX23 News Cape Girardeau News (kbsi23.com) — Cape Girardeau residents are invited to see a 1975 police time capsule opened at the former station on South Sprigg Street this Friday, June 5, at 10 a.m. Hosted by Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri, the unveiling promises a rare look at how the department and community saw themselves more than 50 years ago.
   

4. Water treatment plant manager gives update on facility improvements (kfvs12.com) — Cape Girardeau residents may see another 15% water rate increase as the City Council weighs funding major upgrades to the city’s aging treatment plant. The plant manager says last fall’s hike paid for new equipment, and this proposed jump would help expand capacity with new clarifiers, basins, and an aerator if approved July 1.
   

5. Lucas Todd Miller, 35, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri (wkdzradio.com) — Cape Girardeau is mourning the loss of 35-year-old Lucas Todd Miller, a loving father whose three children still live in the city. Originally from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Lucas died May 27 and services will be held June 6 in Hopkinsville, where family and friends will gather to remember his life and passions.
