City Of Clayton Publishes Weekly Police Incident Report From July 13 Until 19
While on patrol Friday night, officers located an occupied vehicle on the top level of the otherwise empty Metro garage.

For the reporting period of Monday, July 13th - Sunday, July 19th, CPD officers responded to 392 calls, including 8 automobile accidents & 29 calls to assist the Fire Department. This is the highest volume of calls for service since the week of March 9th when officers handled 483 calls. Among the calls last week were the following incidents:

As we reported Friday, an arrest was made & charges were issued for a man who committed a residential burglary in the Polo neighborhood early Monday morning. Through investigation & the suspect’s own statements, detectives learned after his release from the jail, he entered the neighborhood on foot where he stole credit cards & other items from unlocked vehicles. He then unlawfully entered an occupied home by removing an air conditioner unit from a ground floor window. Once inside, he stole the resident’s purse which contained keys to a vehicle parked in the driveway. He exited the home through a side door & stole the resident’s vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a short time later in another local jurisdiction.
Through the hard work & dedication of Clayton Detectives, the man was quickly identified Monday. Thanks to the assistance of a neighboring agency, he was located & safely arrested, without incident, Thursday morning. Friday, the case was presented to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office & warrants were issued for the felony charges of burglary 1st degree, stealing over $750 & stealing a motor vehicle. He was also charged with the misdemeanor offense of fraudulent use of a credit/debit device.

Monday afternoon, officers responded to the 6700 block of Clayton Rd. after an officer from a neighboring agency witnessed a man steal items from Walgreens. The man was arrested & subsequent searches of his person & property resulted in the recovery of the stolen merchandise. Additionally, the man was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, concealed weapons & items reported as stolen from other jurisdictions.
Early Tuesday morning, a man reported an acquaintance stole a large sum of money from his vehicle while he was checking into a local hotel. Investigation is ongoing.
Just before 6am Wednesday morning, officers responded to the 900 block of S. Hanley after receiving a report of subjects stealing from parked vehicles in a secure garage. Arriving officers observed the subjects enter a passenger vehicle & verbally directed the occupants to exit the vehicle. The driver exited & fled the area on foot. He was later taken into custody in the area of Big Bend Blvd. & Clayton Rd. One passenger exited the vehicle & immediately surrendered to officers.
Another passenger overtook the driver’s seat & attempted to exit the garage by driving at officers. The officers were unharmed & the driver made good his escape. The suspect exited onto northbound S. Hanley where he struck a commuting vehicle. The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling northbound on S. Hanley Rd. at a high right of speed. Two additional subjects remained in the vehicle as if fled the area. Investigation continues; however, officers have reason to believe the suspects were armed at the time of this incident. Wednesday evening, a resident in the 7700 block of Kingsbury reported several items were missing from his unlocked storage unit. Further investigation revealed items had been stolen from several additional storage units & one of the units had been turned into a makeshift residence or shelter. Investigation continues.
A traffic stop in the area of Clayton Rd. & S. Brentwood Blvd. Thursday afternoon resulted in the arrest of the driver for careless & imprudent driving, possession of a fake ID, minor in possession of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia & possession of marijuana.
Thursday evening, a resident reported several items of jewelry, valued at thousands of dollars, have been stolen from her home over the period of a month. She believes employees of a home healthcare company are responsible for the thefts.
Finally, while on patrol Friday night, officers located an occupied vehicle on the top level of the otherwise empty Metro garage. Investigation resulted in the arrest of the occupants for possession of marijuana & possession of drug paraphernalia. A check of the garage Sunday night resulted in the arrest of two subjects for being minors in possession of alcohol & for possession of a fake ID.
