Clayton Police Log For Week Of Dec. 23-29

For the reporting period of Monday, December 23rd - Sunday, December 29th, officers responded to 413 calls for service, including 18 automobile accidents and 32 calls to assist the Fire Department. Among those calls were the following incidents:

Early Sunday morning, officers located a vehicle in the parking lot of Shaw Park after hours. Contact with the occupant resulted in his arrest for possession of marijuana & drug paraphernalia.

A few hours later, a traffic stop in the area of S. Hanley & Clayton resulted in the arrest of the driver for DWI.

Monday evening, a man reported accidentally leaving his credit card behind at a restaurant on the 21st. He was contacted by his card company after someone unknown used his card to make over $3,000 in fraudulent purchases throughout the St. Louis area.

Tuesday evening, officers assisted CFD as they responded to a small fire in the 100 block of N. Central.

Wednesday morning, a woman was arrested for shoplifting from Walgreens & providing false information. She was found in possession of a large amount of receipts from Metro area stores & admitted she was shoplifting the items & using the receipts to return them to the stores for payment.

Wednesday afternoon a man attempted to leave IHOP without paying for his meal. He was issued a summons for stealing.

Early Thursday morning, a handgun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Carondelet Plaza.

Later Thursday morning, while investigating a vehicle accident in the area of S. Big Bend & Wydown, officers arrested a driver for DWI. At the time, the driver’s BAC was determined to be over twice the legal limit.

Thursday night a woman accidentally picked up the wrong purse when leaving a bar with her male companion. The owner of the purse successfully retrieved her belongings without incident. However, a subject who witnessed the incident confronted the man, resulting in a physical altercation. He was arrested for assault.

Later Thursday night, a traffic stop in the 6400 block of Forsyth resulted in the arrest of the driver for possession of marijuana.

Late Friday night, a traffic stop in the area of S. Hanley & Clayton Rd. resulted in the arrest of the driver for DWI.

Lastly, late Saturday night, a traffic stop in the area of S. Hanley & Clayton Rd. resulted in the arrest of the driver for DWI, resisting arrest & assaulting an officer.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured as a result of the DWI & drug arrests we mentioned this week. We cannot stress enough how important designating a sober driver or using a ride service is to the safety of everyone. Remember, you’re not alone on the road.
