Clayton Weekly Police Incident Report From April 20 To 26

For the reporting period of April 20th - April 26th, CPD officers responded to 240 calls for service, including 6 automobile accidents & 25 calls to assist the CFD.

Throughout the week, the CPD received several reports of unlocked vehicles rummaged through. Please help us prevent these incidents by using your #9pmRoutine all day, every day!

Monday morning a man made the mistake of failing to pay for his beverage at CVS & walked out of the store in front of a CPD officer. The man was stopped & returned the merchandise.

Tuesday, a man discovered his debit card was lost after last using it at a Clayton eatery. He contacted his bank & discovered $600 in fraudulent charges.

Thursday evening, two subjects attempted to use counterfeit bills on a purchase at Walgreens. When store employees became suspicious of the bills’ authenticity the subjects fled the store. Officers located & arrested both subjects nearby.

A man fell victim to a utility scam via phone call Friday evening from someone claiming to represent Laclede Gas. The caller claimed he owed payment for a past due bill & instructed him to wire funds using Moneypak.com. For info on identifying & reporting utility scams please visit: http://ow.ly/dz8y50zpKlD

Walgreens security reported despite being reminded he was not allowed on the property, a man who had previously been banned from the store returned Friday night & attempted to make a purchase. The man admitted ignoring the trespass warning & was issued a summons for trespassing.

Finally, a traffic stop in the area of S. Hanley Rd. & Wydown Blvd. Saturday night resulted in the arrest of the driver for possession of marijuana.
