Clayton Weekly Police Incident Report: Sept. 7-13

A man who confessed to exposing himself has been charged with sexual misconduct.

For the reporting period of Monday, September 7th - Sunday, September 13th, CPD officers responded to 398 calls for service, including 8 automobile accidents & 28 calls to assist the CFD. Among those calls were the following incidents:

While on patrol in the 100 block of Carondelet Plaza Tuesday morning, a CPD officer observed a large amount of soap suds spilling out of the fountain. Maintenance personnel were already on scene, working to repair the fountain’s filtration system. They advised 4 empty bottles of dish detergent had been discarded nearby. An investigation is ongoing.

A resident of the 8100 block of Stratford reported his vehicle was rummaged through in the early hours of Tuesday morning, however, nothing was taken. Video from his home surveillance system showed 3 individuals exiting a silver sedan at 2:30am & approaching his vehicle & other vehicles in the area. A resident of the 8100 block of Kingsbury later discovered her vehicle was also rifled through & a pair of sunglasses was stolen. Both vehicles are believed to have been left unlocked.

Later, staff at a condominium in the central business district contacted CPD after learning the windshield on a resident’s vehicle had been damaged by an unknown object. The vehicle had been parked for approximately a week before the damage was discovered & it is unclear when the damage occurred.

Just after 10am Tuesday, a resident in the 6600 block of San Bonita returned home to discover a man watching her neighbor over the fence. When the man noticed her, he ran across the alleyway, revealing he was nude. The man entered a nearby vehicle & as he drove away, she used her cellphone to take photos of the vehicle & its license plate. Through further Investigation, the man was identified as a Madison County, Missouri resident, David Miller (62 years of age). With the assistance of the Madison County Sheriff’s Officer, D. Miller was arrested Wednesday afternoon. While in custody he confessed to exposing himself. He was charged with sexual misconduct 1st degree, 2nd offense & the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant for the same with a $50,000 cash only bond.

Tuesday afternoon, 2 residents of an apartment building in the 800 block of Westwood reported they each had 2 bicycles stolen from their shared garage. They advised they had both secured the bicycles in the garage Monday afternoon. Investigation is ongoing.

A lawn care worker reported he left his equipment trailer open while he completed work in the backyard of a home on Hillvale. When he returned to the trailer approximately 10 minutes later, he found someone had stolen his backpack style leaf-blower.

Saturday morning, Walgreens reported 2 men stole several packs of energy drinks from the store. The merchandise was valued at over $150. They were last seen leaving the area in an older model Honda Civic.

A traffic stop of a wrong way driver in the 7000 block of Clayton Rd. Saturday night resulted in the driver’s arrest for several felony warrants out of neighboring agencies.

After dining outdoors at JP Field’s Sunday afternoon, a table of 3 women left without making any attempt to pay for their meals. Their departure was captured by surveillance cameras in the area & investigation is ongoing.

Sunday afternoon, a resident in the 6300 block of Southwood reported his motorized scooter was stolen from his carport. The resident parked & secured the scooter Friday afternoon before leaving town for the weekend. A neighbor reported he witnessed a man loading the scooter into the back of a pickup truck Saturday morning. He had assumed the reporting party had sold the scooter & he had not reported the activity.

Finally, Chief Smith & Cpl. Schwartz had the chance to meet up with the residents of the Hi-Pointe Neighborhood during their fall celebration Saturday night. It was a great opportunity to meet everyone & catch up with old friends (from a safe distance)!
