For the reporting period of Monday, Dec. 16 through Sunday, Dec. 22, Clayton Police officers responded to 422 calls for service.

For the reporting period of Monday, December 16th - Sunday, December 22nd, Clayton Police officers responded to 422 calls for service, including 23 automobile accidents & 29 calls to assist the CFD. Among those calls were the following incidents:

Monday morning, a resident in the Hillcrest neighborhood reported her vehicle was damaged overnight when someone shattered one of the windows. Change was taken from the vehicle.
As reported locally, officers responded to the St. Louis County Courthouse Thursday morning for a fight in a courtroom. According to witnesses, during a break in the trial, supporters of the defendant became engaged in a verbal argument with other attendees & it quickly escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in damage to the courtroom. 2 of the subjects left the scene prior to the arrival of officers & 1 subject was arrested for property damage.

Later Thursday morning, a man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance when he attempted to enter the courts building with suspected ecstasy.
You may have noted a large presence of fire & police vehicles in the Highpoint-DeMun neighborhood Friday morning. A homeowner returned to home to discover smoke coming from the residence. The fire is believed to have been caused by a heat source left running in the basement overnight.
Saturday morning, a man entered Walgreens & waited for the cashier to step away from the registers. He then reached over the counter, stole the cash drawer & fled the area in a white SUV.
Lastly, early Sunday morning, a traffic stop in the area of Hanley & Pershing resulted in the arrest of the driver for DWI.
