Now for your weekly police incident report. For the reporting period of Monday, October 19th – Sunday, October 25th, CPD officers responded to 351 calls for service including, 14 automobile accidents & 28 calls to assist the CFD. Among those calls were the following incidents:
While conducting a routine inspection of a local bank ATM, the bank manager discovered the display screen was damaged & no longer functioning. The damage occurred sometime between Friday evening & Monday morning.

A resident in the 8000 block of Rosiline reported his son’s bicycle was stolen from their unlocked garage sometime in the past week.
Monday afternoon, an accountant discovered someone defrauded a restaurant in the DeMun area by forging checks for a total of $2,600. 3 unknown individuals cashed the checks in September. An investigation is ongoing.
A resident in the 7500 block of Byron awoke Tuesday morning to discover various tools, valued at approximately $1,500, were stolen from his truck overnight.
DeMun Cleaners staff reported a child’s bicycle had been abandoned inside the shop for over a week. Officers seized the bicycle for safekeeping. If you believe the bike belongs to you, please contact the CPD.
Tuesday morning, contactors discovered damage to a restoration site in the 6300 block of Clayton Rd. An unknown subject gained access to the building by damaging a basement window. The subject then stole the copper piping from the building’s water line & removed the copper lines & engines from 2 AC units. After reviewing footage from nearby surveillance cameras, it was determined the burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, October 16th. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact the CPD Detective Bureau.
Thursday afternoon, the CPD was notified of a telephone scam wherein the caller identified themselves as a member of the CPD. The fraudster instructed the victim, a resident, to withdraw funds from their bank account & convert the currency into bitcoin to avoid criminal charges. The resident became suspicious of the caller & responded to the PD for assistance. Please know the person is NOT affiliated with the PD. We will never request or accept payment in any form as a means of avoiding criminal charges. If you believe you have become a victim of this or any other fraud, please report the incident to your local police department as soon as possible.
Staff at the Clayton Plaza Hotel complained of a man trespassing on the property Friday night. The man was not a guest of the hotel & he was not on scene when officers arrived. He was located nearby & officers advised him he would be arrested for trespassing if he returned.
This weekend resulted in the recovery of multiple stolen vehicles. Late Friday night, St. Louis County PD reported their officers had located a vehicle stolen from a Clayton hotel garage back in March. The vehicle stolen from the area of Dartford & Wydown last week was recovered by SLMPD officers Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning, SLMPD officers recovered a vehicle stolen from Arundel in June. All investigations related to these vehicles are ongoing.
Finally, officers responded to the Le Meridian Hotel Sunday evening, where they arrested a man for trespassing in the hotel lobby.
