• Foundation doles out first round of grants (myleaderpaper.com) — De Soto residents will see direct benefits from Jefferson Foundation’s latest $3.9 million grant round, which funds De Soto 73 Public Schools, De Soto Food Pantry, and Parents as Teachers – De Soto, among many others. The money supports basic needs, health, transportation, and youth programs across Jefferson County, with another application window for agencies opening later this month.

• De Soto-area man allegedly attacks child, deputy (myleaderpaper.com) — Authorities report that a 33-year-old man who lives south of De Soto has been charged in connection with allegedly assaulting a child and struggling with deputies during his arrest. Court records show he faces felony child abuse or neglect and attempted escape charges and remains held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro.

• Northland Taps Storm Booe to Lead Men's Wrestling Program (nwcaonline.com) — A former assistant coach at De Soto High School has been hired to lead the men’s wrestling program at Northland Community & Technical College in Minnesota. Storm Booe’s success with De Soto wrestlers and a Hillsboro academy helped produce numerous state and national competitors, experience he now plans to use to build a tough, character-focused college program.
