• Ferguson Youth Initiative hosts summer celebration for students (firstalert4.com) — Teens in Ferguson can head to the Teen Center of Excellence on Florissant Avenue today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Ferguson Youth Initiative’s “School’s Out Youth Celebration.” The free block-party style event offers creative activities, mentoring, and a safe space to connect with peers and local leaders, including police, while focusing on community healing and youth empowerment.

Drawing on her experience after her son’s killing in Ferguson, she’s fostering community, promoting therapy and shared grief support, and honoring his 30th birthday through a foundation awarding thirty $3,000 scholarships.
