• Crystal City Fire Department hires first full-time firefighter (myleaderpaper.com) — Crystal City has hired its first-ever full-time firefighter, 26-year-old Corey Nengel, who previously worked for the Herculaneum Fire Department and still has family serving there. Nengel will work weekdays and supplement the city’s volunteer force as Crystal City prepares for growth tied to the James Hardie development. His move highlights how neighboring departments, including Herculaneum’s, share talent and experience.
