• EPA Finds Cleanup Remedies at Two Superfund Sites Are Not Protective -- Environmental Protection (eponline.com) — Federal environmental officials say the cleanup at the Minker/Stout/Romaine Creek Superfund site in Imperial is currently not protective of human health, prompting new action. EPA plans a removal effort to reduce potential dioxin exposure and will meet with Imperial residents to explain the findings and next steps. The review also assessed several other Midwest Superfund sites, but Imperial’s issues are among the most urgent.
