City officials insist their emergency structure worked as intended but admit volunteer roles, insurance coverage, and communication systems are in flux as preparedness shifts back to the Fire Department and a new emergency manager comes on board.
   

• New websites will show Jackson County homeowners their tax credit (kctv5.com) — Jackson County homeowners can soon use two new websites to see exactly how much property tax credit they'll receive, with details unveiled at a Taxpayer Update Town Hall at the Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence. The credits apply to owners whose recent assessments jumped more than 15%, and County Executive Phil LeVota will explain how relief is spread over three years and answer residents' questions.
