2. Joplin woman denied bond reduction in animal abuse case (fourstateshomepage.com) — A Joplin woman remains jailed after a Jasper County judge refused to lower her bond in an animal abuse case tied to the death of her dog. She and her husband have pleaded not guilty, and the dog was found in Webb City before dying at the Joplin Humane Society. Her next court date is set for August 11.

Benton County marriage licenses issued June 25 (arkansasonline.com) — Several Joplin couples, including Mark Roeder II and Maddelyn Pace as well as Brandon Petty and Aundrea Goertzen, recently received marriage licenses recorded in neighboring Benton County, Arkansas. The clerk’s report spans late June to early July and shows how many area residents, including those from Joplin, are crossing the state line to wed.
