Renaissance festival returns to Joplin June 6-7, portion of Murphy Blvd to close (koamnewsnow.com) — If you’re heading near Landreth Park this weekend, expect Murphy Boulevard on Joplin’s west side of the park to be closed while the Silver Sage Renaissance Festival returns June 6–7. The Viking-themed weekend offers discounted tickets online and aims to blend fun with history, arts, and creative learning for local families.

2. Federal charges filed against Joplin homicide suspect (fourstateshomepage.com) — Federal prosecutors have now charged a 41-year-old Joplin man with being a felon in possession of a firearm, on top of existing Jasper County charges tied to a February 28 shooting death near Joplin Avenue and 5th Street. He remains in federal custody, with upcoming court dates in both federal and county courts.

3. Joplin's 7th Street construction impacts local businesses (fourstateshomepage.com) — Drivers and business owners along Joplin’s 7th Street are dealing with slower traffic and fewer customers as MoDOT’s $61.6 million construction project stretches from Schifferdecker to Range Line through 2028. While sidewalks, pavement, drainage, and intersections are being upgraded, nearby shops like Lalo’s Taqueria say access issues are already cutting into their daily business.

4. Richard Storm (blogspot.com) — Family and friends are remembering Richard “Stormy” Storm, an 83-year-old former longtime Joplin resident and Joplin High School graduate who passed away June 1. Known for his devotion to family, church involvement, love of garage sales and bowling at Plaza Lanes, he leaves children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings who say he will be greatly missed.

5. Joplin man charged with fifth DWI (blogspot.com) — A 60-year-old Joplin man has been charged in Newton County with felony DWI after an April 20 crash where troopers say he showed clear signs of intoxication and later tested at a .229% blood alcohol level. Court records list four prior DWI convictions in Joplin, Barry County, and Jasper County, which could significantly affect his potential sentence.
