Bomb Explodes Behind Missouri Patrol Car, Authorities Say
Federal authorities say the device that detonated near Kansas City was likely homemade.

RAYMORE, MO — Someone tossed a bomb at a patrol car on a highway near Kansas City, Missouri and it blew up on the pavement behind the vehicle.
No one was hurt when the explosive detonated Thursday behind a westbound police patrol vehicle along state Route 58 in Raymore. Authorities are investigating whether police were targeted by an eastbound vehicle that threw the device.
The device was probably "homemade," said John Ham, a spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said. It could've caused severe injuries, he said. Ham said they're concerned that the unidentified suspect "targeted law enforcement."
