Clinics will alternate between the Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. When you book your appointment, you will know which vaccine you will be receiving. The Pfizer vaccine requires a second dose three weeks after the first dose, and Moderna’s second dose is four weeks following the first. Johnson & Johnson’s does not require a second dose.
For your convenience, you can schedule your own appointment at kcmo.gov/coronavirus. If you don’t have access to the digital appointment platform, clinic staff can accommodate a limited number of unscheduled, same-day vaccinations. You can also pre-register by calling 311 or by visiting the clinic. However, please note that your wait time will likely be longer if you don’t have an appointment.
“Everyone 16 and older is now eligible to get vaccinated. Make it a priority. Get your appointment today,” said Dr. Rex Archer, director of health. “Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been 100 percent effective in preventing death from COVID. The vaccines have also so far been promising against emerging variants. We still have a way to go before we reach population “herd” immunity, which will mean that most of us are immune to the disease.”
Map applications on cell phones often misdirect people to the old Smith-Hale Middle School on Longview Road. If using a map app, please confirm that the final destination takes you to the school on Old Santa Fe Road and is not defaulting to the old school building via Raytown Road and Longview Road.
