Independence Center to Participate in Susan G. Komen 2017 More than Pink™ Movement
Funds raised will go towards goal of reducing breast cancer deaths

Independence Center continues its engagement with Susan G. Komen® this October, encouraging employees, retailers and shoppers to participate in activities and contribute to the achievement of Komen’s bold goal of reducing current U.S. breast cancer deaths by 50 percent by 2026.
“Our shoppers, retailers and employees have demonstrated their support and commitment to Susan G. Komen over the last two years by participating in all of our fundraising activities,” said Tricia Sanders, General Manager, Independence Center. “We look forward to another successful campaign this year and are focused on fighting a disease that affects so many in our community.”

Visitors to Independence Center will notice the pink theme carried out at the Mall Management Office and staff will be honoring National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donning pink accessories. Other planned activities include:
Discount Card Program: $5 Discount Cards will be sold providing 15% or 25% off one item at 28 participating retailers including Coach, Amy's Hallmark, Independence Petland and Starbucks. All proceeds from the sale of Discount Cards go to Susan G. Komen.

Gift Cards: Simon is offering a Susan G. Komen Visa® Simon Giftcard. For every Gift Card purchased, Simon will donate $1 towards Susan G. Komen.**
Local Programming: Susan G. Komen related events will take place with local Simon teams working with Susan G. Komen local affiliates. Independence Center will host its annual Food Truck Festival on Saturday, September 30 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Six of the area’s most popular food trucks will offer a variety of menu items provided by new, emerging chefs. A portion of all vendor sales will be donated to Susan G. Komen.
