The City is looking fill more than 60 positions during our Job Fair on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Robert J. Mohart Multipurpose Center, 3200 Wayne Ave. These jobs are needed to bulk up Solid Waste Services as we gear up to begin citywide trash collection service in May 2020.
“You can walk in and, conceivably, walk out with a job,” said Shannon Dooley, Solid Waste Services marketing and outreach coordinator. “If you’re a hard-working, team player, this is your chance to work for a great team and a great city!”
Specifically, Solid Waste is looking for full-time maintenance workers and equipment operators. Each position pays $14.35 an hour. Equipment operators must have at least six months of experience and possess a valid Missouri Class B CDL. Maintenance workers need a high school diploma or six months of general labor experience. Maintenance workers collect trash, recycling, bulky items, yard waste and illegally dumped items and load those items on trash trucks. Other maintenance worker duties include operating exterior truck controls, mowers, tractors, weed eaters and other mowing equipment and operating trucks associated with snowplow operations. You must be physically fit, capable of lifting at least 40 pounds and working in adverse conditions and locations.
The City of KCMO offers a great benefits package for full-time, regular status employees including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, holiday pay, paid vacation/sick leave, retirement plan, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, long-term and short-term disability, long-term care and deferred compensation plan.
