Johnson County Board of Commissioners Recognizes the 2017 Kansas City Bank of America Student Leaders
Bank of America Student Leaders received certificates of achievement at weekly board meeting

On Thursday, August 10, the Johnson County Board of Commissioners recognized the 2017 Kansas City Bank of America Student Leaders for their participation in the program.
Sakina Bhatti, Julia Slack, Kylee Wallentine, Hope Romero and Mimi Garimella (not pictured) are the five Kansas City Student Leaders chosen for their strong leadership skills and community/volunteer involvement.
At the weekly board meeting, the students had the opportunity to personally meet Chairman Ed Eilert and Second District Commissioner James (Jim) Allen.

As part of the Bank of America Student Leaders program, each student received a paid eight-week internship at local non-profit, Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC). The internships provided students with valuable work experience while also supporting the nonprofits with extra help this summer. Additionally, the students attended the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. in July.
To better prepare young leaders for their future roles, Bank of America Student Leaders program gives participating students valuable work experience, helps them learn more about the role nonprofits play in addressing critical community needs, and prepares them to be future leaders in our communities, regardless of career path.
