Kansas City KC Hearts Launches May Day Activity
On May Day, May 1, we are encouraging Kansas City to show their hearts to one another through simple surprise or gift for friends or family.

A group of Kansas City-loving community members has created KC Hearts, a weekly series of uplifting activities that everyone can do together, even while staying physically apart.

The first event was last Thursday’s citywide tailgate as a “pre-game” activity for the NFL Draft. This week, on May Day, Friday, May 1, we are encouraging Kansas City to show their hearts to one another through a simple surprise or gift for a neighbor, friend or stranger. Maybe it’s the grocery store clerk or someone new to your neighborhood, or a delivery driver or healthcare worker.
These can be simple and heartfelt, homemade or delivered from a local business:

- Set out heart-shaped doggie treats a water bowl for the neighborhood dogs.
- Ding-Dong-Ditch your neighbor and leave a card or a sign with a heart on it.
- Set a box of heart-shaped chocolates on a neighbor’s doorstep.
- Have a meal or flowers delivered to a friend.

This is a great opportunity to support local businesses by having flowers delivered to a neighbor or by picking up margaritas to-go. We encourage local businesses to put together KC Hearts packages for pickup and delivery.
