November 24, 2021

As of November 30, 2021, the Library will no longer offer the eBook and digital audiobook resource Axis360. If you currently use the service, here’s what you can expect; we also offer some alternative ways to get the new and notable titles you want to check out. What this means for current users:

  • Have a title currently checked out on Axis360? You'll still get to finish it by its original due date.
  • The Axis360 mobile app will no longer connect to the Kansas City Public Library collection after November 30.
  • If you have titles from the Kansas City Public Library collection on an Axis360 wish list, that information will not be accessible after November 30. (Materials associated with a card you have with a different library system will not be impacted.)

We recommend:

OverDrive/Libby

You can still enjoy the same popular titles by using OverDrive/Libby's "Lucky Day" collection. Enjoy immediate access to selected eBooks or digital audiobooks -- no holds, no waiting. The Libby App makes it easy to browse, borrow, and enjoy on the go.

If you liked creating lists in Axis360, give OverDrive’s wish list feature a try! Save titles that you might be interested in borrowing later, including yet-to-be-released books.

hoopla

The digital service hoopla offers thousands of audiobooks, eBooks, TV programs, movies, and music albums that you can stream online or download and play offline in the hoopla app. Materials are always available -- no holds and no waiting!

Library Catalog

You already may use your Library catalog account to place holds on books, DVDs, or CDs, but did you know you can also create book lists or track your reading progress? Create custom lists that you can keep private, or you can share your recommendations with others. Your account also includes a My Shelves feature that lets you track items you have finished reading, are currently reading, or want to read later.
