Kansas City's Most Dangerous Highway Stretches
This Thanksgiving, take extra caution. A new interactive study finds the deadliest highway stretches in Kansas City, MO.

Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most traveled holiday periods of the year and demands drivers be attentive. This holiday season, be extra alert of the most dangerous highways within the Kansas City area!
Kansas City injury firm Wendt Law Firm, P.C. collaborated with a data visualization company to identify the most deadly highway stretches in Missouri and Kansas. After analyzing 2 years of collision records from 2015 to 2016, they found:
- A 7.8-mile stretch of US Highway 71 in south Kansas City accounted for 8 crashes and 9 total fatalities
- A segment of US Highway 24 in east Independence, MO was the deadliest length of highway
- Jackson County, home to Kansas City, accounted for 22 collisions and 23 fatalities across 5 segments
