Leading Kansas City Financial Firm Backs Fight For Air Climb
Great-West Financial & Empower Retirement is joining the fight against lung disease by teaming up with the American Lung Association in KC

Great-West Financial and Empower Retirement is joining the fight against lung disease by teaming up with the American Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City. Great-West Financial and Empower Retirement has signed on for a second year as the presenting sponsor of the Fight For Air Climb on February 25 at One Kansas City Place.
“Lung disease impacts more than 600,000 people in Missouri and more than 200,000 in Kansas,” said Linda Crider, executive director the Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City. “That’s why Great-West Financial and Empower Retirement’s contribution as presenting sponsor is so significant in our community. From funding asthma education, to providing resources to those suffering from lung cancer, this support helps make people’s lives better every day.”
Thousands of people take to the stairs in the For the Fight For Air Climb at One Kansas City Place (42 floors and 902 steps) in an effort to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.“We are proud to be involved with the American Lung Association to help broaden the awareness of lung disease and lung cancer,” said Tracy Garry, Head of Client Management and Consulting for Empower Retirement and Local Leadership Board member for the Lung Association in Kansas and Greater Kansas City. “Last year’s climb and fundraising results were fantastic and we look forward to having another great climb in 2018. We hope to see our community come together for this wonderful event.”

Great-West Financial and Empower Retirement is the second largest retirement services provider in the country. Great-West Financial is based in Colorado, but its local division, Empower Retirement has a large operation outside of Kansas City, employing more than 1,000 people.
The Fight For Air Climb helps save lives locally by raising awareness about the risk factors of lung disease, helping people manage their illness through educational trainings, by funding research to find a cure for lung cancer and much more. Nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to education, research and advocacy.

Registration for the 2018 Fight For Air Climb is currently open online or by calling 913-353-9166. Climbers can register for a discounted price of $15 before January 11, 2018.
