Mayor Lucas Urges Kansas Citians To Complete 2020 Census

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas today urged all Kansas Citians to get a head start on completing their 2020 Census form, either online at 2020census.gov; by phone at 1-844-330-2020; or by mail, if they have received the paper form.

“While we’re all spending more time at home social distancing, this is a good opportunity for Kansas Citians to complete their 2020 Census,” said Mayor Lucas. “An accurate Census count is essential and will ensure the federal resources Kansas City receives—funding for critical issues such as public safety, transportation, healthcare, housing and infrastructure—are reflective of our actual city population. Our community needs you—let’s make our voices count in Kansas City.”

Federal funds are allocated to municipalities based on Census data. Approximately $4,700 in federal funds are allocated to Missouri per Census-completing household; conversely, each person not counted in the state of Missouri could result in a potential loss of $1,272 per person per year.
