Training, Team Building Begin for the Fight For Air Climb Kansas City

Training, team building and fundraising start today for the biggest stair climb in the Kansas City area, the Fight For Air Climb at One Kansas City Place. The American Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City announced that registration is now open for the event, set for Sunday, February 24.

The Fight For Air Climb invites individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate teams and first responders to race up the stairs of One Kansas City Place (42 floors, 902 steps) to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.

“The fall is the perfect time to start building your team, training and fundraising. Stair climbing is a great way to stay active during the chilly Kansas City winters, but also provides a fun activity for families, team building for corporate teams and a fundraising activity for students,” said Linda Crider, the executive director of the Lung Association. “The Fight For Air Climb brings the community together to fight for something that impacts us all – clean air and healthy lungs.”

On Monday, November 12 from 5:30 - 7 p.m., the Lung Association will host a training climb and kick-off event at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Overland Park, Kansas. This event is open to anyone interested in learning more about the Climb or ready to start training early.

More than 800,000 people suffer from lung disease in Kansas and Missouri, and this year alone, it is estimated that more than 5,700 people in Missouri and 2,000 people in Kansas will be diagnosed with lung cancer. The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children better manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking.
