Sheri Gonzales Appointed to WGU Missouri Advisory Board

WGU Missouri is pleased to announce that Sheri Gonzales has been appointed to the WGU Missouri Advisory Board. As a private, nonprofit institution established by the state of Missouri, WGU Missouri works in partnership with its parent institution, Western Governors University, and under the guidance of the state advisory board. The Advisory Board is comprised of 14 individuals who work or reside in Missouri and provide counsel on the most effective ways the university can meet its core mission of economic development in the state.

Gonzales is the Vice President Civic Council and Director for KC Rising, where she is utilizing her expertise to assist the organization and its members to collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to influence the community and region to address public policy issues.

Before joining KC Rising, Gonzales established herself in the region as a leader in workforce development, international relief, and community development. In her prior work at Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) she helped establish GradForce KC, a collaboration funded by the Lumina Foundation to guide post-secondary attainment initiatives, and substantially retooled the Regional Workforce Intelligence Network (RWIN) to coordinate and provide decision-making data to economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, workforce investment boards, and educational institutions focused on increasing talent to attract and retain business.

Gonzales holds a bachelor's degree in communications and journalism from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas, where she is completing coursework towards a Ph.D. in Public Administration. She resides in Lee’s Summit.
