Westport Restaurant Shooting Leaves School Resource Officer Dead

At least 200 people were on the Kansas City restaurant's patio when at least one gun shot rang out. The suspect remains on the run.

KANSAS CITY, MO — An off-duty school resource officer is dead and a woman was hurt in a shooting at a restaurant in Kansas City's Westport bar and entertainment district.

The Lee's Summit Police Department confirmed that Officer Thomas Orr, 30, was killed Sunday night on the patio of Californos. The shooting stemmed from an argument between patrons, police said. Orr wasn't involved.

At least 200 people were on the patio when at least one gun shot rang out. The suspect remains on the run, and witnesses are urged to contact police.
